Vindhya Tiwari: I don’t go out with guys, we all know what they are looking for
Vindhya Tiwari has entered popular TV show Sasural Simar Ka as the negative lead. In an exclusive chat with SpotboyE, the actress, who has been part of soaps like Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo,  Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak? and Bharat Ka Veer Putra -- Maharana  Pratap, gets candid about career, love and much more. Excerpts…

What made you choose Sasural Simar Ka?
After so many years in the industry, I have become more careful about money. I know I deserve better and that’s one of the reasons I chose this show. If you sign me on, you will get your money’s worth. On the set, I think of nothing but work.

Your entry in the show began with a controversy -- the Game Of Throne-inspired promo went terribly wrong...
Yes, many fans even questioned my decision of joining the show. But all said and done, any publicity is good publicity. Also, the show needed a new track after the one involving supernatural powers failed to work out. So, if my entry can spike the numbers, nothing could be better.

Let’s hear about your character, Princess Chandramani...
Chandramani wrongly blames Simar (Deepika Kakkar) for her misfortune and wants to get even. The makers needed a negative character, who looks very sweet and vulnerable.

How is it to enter a long-running show?
Kudos to the channel and the team for going all out to promote me. My co- stars Deepika and Dheeraj Dhooper know me very well. In short, the entire unit has welcomed me with open arms.

The industry is a tough place. Who and what keeps you grounded?
I am very lucky to have a great sounding  board in my parents. They clearly tell me what my strong and weak points are. My mom also advises me on my looks. If she finds me looking bad in a particular scene, I discuss it with my make- up team the very next day.

What does success mean to you?
Success is important in any walk of life, but I can never compromise on my dignity. Even my friends make  fun of my old-school approach. I am very clear that I need to go up the right way.

You have never been linked up with any of your co-stars...
Unlike other girls who are only interested in finding a good guy and settling down, I am very confident that I will make a mark for myself. I am so absorbed in my own life that sometimes, I don’t even notice when a guy hits on me. I believe that sooner or later, my Mr. Right will find me -- it  might even happen in one glance. This is one of the reasons why I don’t go out with guys. Though they’ll politely say ‘Let’s meet for coffee’, we all know what they are eventually looking for .

Will you marry somebody from the industry?
Honestly, I don’t think it will work out with an industry guy. It turns me off when a man is more interested in how he looks rather than the girl he is with. I will go for a real man who has the courage to walk up straight to me and say, ‘I love you’.
